The limerick assignment in my Illustration class. For most of the semester I did pen work because I wanted to get a grasp on something new. Well, end of the semester is creeping up and I figured I could go back to something I'm more familiar with.
Forgive the picture quality, the scanner's too small to get it and it's too late to run to Kinko's to make a copy of it there so...this will have to do for now. I really had fun with this assignment. All the others were kind of tedious, but this one came together quite smoothly and I love working in ink washes.

This has excellent use of shading techniques and I completely enjoyed your interpretation of the limerick. The building, or old man, looks wise. His eyebrow is cocked, which makes me feel like he has infinite wisdom and he is looking down in his greatness on us individuals. I know the owls were in the limerick, but owls are symbolic of wisdom as well.
